Experience: Worked in Commercial roles until 1995 then moved to Accounting & Tax Practice in 1998. Member of CPA since 2004. Been at the current firm since 2002 and became a partner in 2012. Wide exposure to various industries.
What made you get into the Accounting industry?: Loved Maths at school, loved problem solving and helping people.

Experience: My background was real estate, although I had worked in a large corporate accounting firm in the city prior so felt fitting when a job came up locally at Higgins Tonna, my experience within accounting and knowledge has grown so much since first starting here 5 years ago! I now get to do tax returns and help our clients understand what they can and can’t claim.
What made you get into the Accounting industry?: I wanted to learn in an industry that is multi-faceted and can be used in any walk of life!

KATH KENDALL
BOOKKEEPING / PAYROLL

Qualifications: Diploma in Accounting, Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management), Advanced MYOB & Payroll.
Experience: Working as a bookkeeper and processing payroll since 2009, previously managing retail, sales and hospitality.
What made you get into the Accounting industry?: Children, Balancing a family and work can be a challenge, and Bookkeeping allowed me flexibility to look after my children and still pursue a career for myself.
What do you think makes Higgins Tonna & Co such a great firm to be a part of?: The boss is amazing, Belinda allows me the flexibility I need to still look after my family. The team are great to work and have a laugh with.

Qualifications: Diploma in BS Accountancy, Xero certifications (Advisor and Payroll).
Experience: I worked as a junior accountant primarily with bookkeeping responsibilities including payroll and eventually taking more responsibilities relating to BAS, tax returns for individuals and companies, and SMSF annuals.
What made you get into the Accounting industry?: I like that it’s challenging, boring but not routinary, and interesting to gain more knowledge and experience in this industry. It’s also practical when dealing with our personal taxes or starting a small business.
